Othello Plaque, 1884. Decorative plate, possibly commissioned to commemorate an American production of Shakespeare's "Othello", (The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice). The main character's name is written in pseudo-Arabic script, with a small portrait and calligraphic motifs reminiscent of Islamic architectural decoration. Modelled by J.C. Meyenberg.
