Green Park House, Poplar Walk, Croydon, London, 05/06/1984. Two men releasing blue balloons at the Prudential offices at Green Park House to celebrate the Chartered Institute of Building's 150th anniversary. 1984 was the building industry's 'Year of Building' to mark the 75th anniversary of the Institute of Structural Engineers, the 150th anniversary of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the 150th anniversary of the Chartered Institute of Building. The CIOB introduced its 'Building Tomorrow's Heritage' campaign to celebrate the year and the 'Go Site-Seeing' initiative between June and September to encourage people to visit building sites and "judge the quality of skill of management, manpower and manufacture." Laing participated in this initiative making various sites open to the public including Green Park House, The Lanes Shopping Centre, Carlisle and The Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.
