Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, 13/06/1953. Laing workers and their families gathered by a line of coaches during a Laing staff outing to Whitley Bay. In 1947, after a seven year break, Laing had resurrected their 'Area Outings' for staff and their families, with trips taking place in May and June. This trip was for their staff from the Carlisle area.
