Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, 13/06/1953. Laing workers with their families seated in a dining hall during a Laing staff outing to Whitley Bay. In 1947, after a seven year break, Laing had resurrected their 'Area Outings' for staff and their families, with trips taking place in May and June. This trip was for their staff from the Carlisle area.
