Roman Wine Cart, 1850. Depiction of '...the peculiarly uncouth and primitive style of conveyance adopted by the Wine Growers of the Romagna to forward their produce to Rome. At the close of the vintage season long lines of these rude carts are to be seen entering the city, carrying enormous quantities of Orvieto, the wine so much prized by the middle-class Romans'.
