Monks of the Convent of Ara Coeli Giving Soup to the Poor, 1850. Scene in Rome, depicting '...the form which the general rejoicement of "the sins of the church" assumed in the convents of the city, viz. the giving of an extra allowance of soup to the poor, who are fed at the principal convents every day at noon. The one selected for illustration is that of the Franciscan Convent attached to the Church of Ara Coeli, on the Capitol'. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
