The Right Hon. Lord Truro, Lord High Chancellor, 1850. 'On Wednesday morning, the occasion of Sir Thomas Wilde, now Lord Truro, taking the oaths and his seat as Lord Chancellor, attracted a numerous attendance of counsel to the court at Lincoln's Inn [in London], the inner bar...being insufficient to accommodate the members of that body...Lord Langdale, Master of the Rolls, and the Vice-Chancellor Knight Bruce, having entered the court on the opposite side, and taken their stations on the bench, Lord Langdale advanced, and placing the Testament in the hands of Lord Truro, the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery administered the customary oaths of allegiance and supremacy...after which Lord Langdale...congratulated his Lordship on his elevation...'. The Lord Chancellor then ascended the raised dais, and took his seat'. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
