Grand Banquet to Viscount Palmerston by the Reform Club, [London], 1850. Dinner in honour of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. 'It is to be regretted that the committee, in making their arrangements for the number to be present at the banquet, did not include proper accommodation, according to the usual custom on such occasions, for the representatives of the press. Some of the leading morning journals very properly declined sending any gentlemen connected with their establishments to report the proceedings, in consequence of the ill-advised and very ill-bred resolve of the committee to find no room for the reporters at the banquet-table until after the cloth had been removed'.
