The Dardanelles - Fort of Chanah-Kalesi, from the Middle of the Channel, 1850. 'Perhaps, of all the eight batteries that guard the channel, the most formidable is that of Chanah-Kalesi, or the Inner Fort of Asia' [in modern Turkey].
