Consecration of the Bishop of Montreal, in Westminster Abbey, 1850. 'At the appointed hour (eleven o'clock), the procession formed and proceeded to the cathedral. The Archbishop [of Canterbury] took up his place on the north side of the holy table, the Bishops of London and Manchester on the south side, and the Bishop designate in a scat appointed in the sacrarium...The canons' verger then conducted the Bishop designate to the chapel appointed, where he was invested with the rochet'...The diocese of the Rev. Dr. Fulford, the new Bishop, was '...the newly constituted diocese of Montreal...formed out of the late diocese of Quebec, which formerly contained the whole of the province of Lower Canada'.
