Vase presented by Louis XVIII. to the late Marquis of Londonderry, 1850. Exhibit in the Sculpture Gallery at Holdernesse House, residence of the Marquis of Londonderry, in Park Lane, London. 'The magnificent works of art this gallery contains are world-famous, the statuary including several chefs-d'oeuvre by Canova and other eminent sculptors'. One of the exhibits was '...a superb vase, of colossal dimensions, which stands in this gallery on a pedestal, bearing the following inscription: "The gift of his most Christian Majesty Louis XVIII., King of France and Navarre, on the signature of the Peace of Paris, 30th of May, 1814.".'
