'The pulpit is of Caen stone: the base is plain, supporting a highly enriched corbelled front, and the sides finish in spandrils, filled in by tracery-work. The pulpit is approached through a door in one of the tower buttresses, which contributes to the picturesque effect'. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
