'At a mile from Bristol, and the most aristocratic portion of that city, is [Clifton,] another of the Great Western Railway attractions...the crescent of houses in the well wooded heights are shown to advantage...' in this view of Clifton Gorge before the erection of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, which was opened in 1864.
