Marks and Spencer, 47-49 Briggate, Leeds, 1970s-1990s. The front elevation of the Marks and Spencer store at 47-49 Briggate, showing the dark polished granite facade and golden glazing bars in the upper floor windows. Marks and Spencer first opened in Leeds at 76 Briggate in 1909. The store at nos. 47-49 Briggate opened in 1951. It is one of a few examples of Marks and Spencer stores with granite facades, another being The Pantheon, London.
