Festival of Britain, South Bank Exhibition, The Islanders sculpture, South Bank, Lambeth, London, 26-05-1951. The monumental relief work 'The Islanders' by Siegfried Charoux, on display at the South Bank Exhibition of the Festival of Britain. The original caption reads: "South Bank Exhibition, Festival of Britain 1951. River Walk: The monumental group in high relief "The Islanders" by Siegfried Charoux." The monumental relief work was created in concrete. It depicted the figures of a man, woman and child, and was exhibited as part of the Sea and Ships pavilion. The monument was destroyed following the end of the Festival of Britain.
