The Emperor leaving Calais Harbour, to visit the English Squadron, 1854. French emperor and president Napoleon Bonaparte III inspects Royal Navy ships off the coast of France before they leave for the Crimean War. '...as the Emperor stood on the deck of the round-house of the yacht in which he visited the fleet, he was greeted with frequent manifestations of loyalty. He now appeared to greater advantage both as to health and spirits. The same remarks are applicable to his inspection of the troops'. From "Illustrated London News", 1854.
