"The Arrest of Louis XVI. and his family, at Varennes, in June, 1791" - painted by T.F. Marshall - from the Exhibition of the Royal Academy, 1854. Scene inspired by "Histoire des Girondins" by Lamartine. King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette of France are on the run during the French Revolution, and seek help from Madame Sausse, the wife of a grocer. The queen appeals to her, citing the fact that she too is a mother, and a wife. Madame Sausse replies drily, "You worry about your husband, and I'll worry about mine". From "Illustrated London News", 1854.
