Funeral of the late Marquis of Ormonde - the Procession leaving Kilkenny Castle, [Ireland], 1854. 'The removal of the remains of this much-lamented nobleman [John Butler, 2nd Marquess of Ormonde], from Lofter's-hall to Kilkenny Castle'. Procession including '...the coronet of the deceased Marquis, borne on a crimson velvet cushion, by Mr. King, his Lordship's butler...The Coffin followed, borne on the shoulders of a picked body of stalwart young men, selected from the tenantry...On each side of the coffin was a row of noblemen and gentlemen...followed by the relatives of the deceased...Then followed, in a long double line, the members of the Masonic Lodges of Kilkenny; mustering nearly a hundred in number...the bells tolled from the belfries of all the churches...Immense crowds lined the streets...from a sketch taken from the Victoria Hotel, by E.
