Railway Station, Flensburg, 1854. Opening of the British-built Royal Danish Railway by Frederick VII, King of Denmark. Present at the opening were Samuel Morton Peto, a partner of the firm of Peto, Brassey, and Betts, and engineer George Parker Bidder. '...his Majesty...received the English railway party with great courtesy, surrounded by his staff; and having expressed how much he was gratified by the unexpected promptitude with which the railway had been completed, proceeded to the station...'.
