"For the Sake of Company", 1854. Illustration to sheet music, to the tune of 'Some Say Women are Like the Seas". 'Some drink the wine for sake of wine, some for folly, some for care, Some with borrow'd light to shine, Some to save them from despair. 'Tis not for these our goblets pass, We only fill thy sober glass, Wine! wine! fair and free, For the sake of company, For the sake of company. Oh! dull were earth could mean not meet, Round the board in festive throngs, The vows of friendship to repeat, Pledging healths and singing songs, In honour of the brave or good, Deserving of our gratitude; Wine! wine! fair and free, Only bright in company, Only bright in company'. From "Illustrated London News", 1854.
