"Hampton," John Ridgely house, Hampton Lane, Towson, Maryland, c1915. House Architecture: Captain Charles Ridgley and Jehu Hall, architect and master carpenter, from 1783. Landscape: Boxwood parterres designed originally by Charles Carnon [sic] Ridgely 1795-1810. [The Hampton Mansion was built 1783-1790, inspired by Castle Howard in North Yorkshire, England. When completed, it was the largest private home in America, and is considered to be one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the USA].
