Fountain In Memory of Butt And Millet, South of White House, Washington DC, 1912. The Butt-Millet Memorial Fountain commemorates two men who died on the Titanic: Archibald Willingham Butt was Military Aide to President Taft. His close friend and housemate Francis Davis Millet was a journalist and painter. There is some speculation that Butt and Millet were lovers. The fountain was designed by Thomas Hastings, with bas-reliefs by Daniel Chester French.
