Manchester Ice Palace, Derby Street, Strangeways, Manchester, 2004. The pediment and relief carvings bearing the words Manchester Ice Palace, above the central window on the building's main Derby Street elevation. The Manchester Ice Palace was opened in 1910 and closed in 1967. It is Britain's oldest surviving ice rink structure, and at the time of its opening was the largest indoor rink in the country.
