The Old Baths, Bathway, Woolwich, Greenwich, Greater London Authority, 2011. The entrance of The Old Baths performing arts centre of the University of Greenwich, originally the Woolwich Public Baths, with Dutch gable above. The Woolwich Public Baths was one of several buildings in the Bathway Quarter designed by Henry Hudson Church. It was opened in 1894 and housed two swimming pools, slipper baths, a wash house and laundry. It closed in 1982 and was used as the student union for Thames Polytechnic (later University of Greenwich). It was converted into a performing arts centre for the university, known as 'The Old Baths' and later Bathway Theatre. The entrance is thought to have been restyled in the 1930s.
