Letter with news of a child's death, 1876-1913. An African-American man informs his brother that his son has died. 'Savannah, Oct 20, My Dear Charlie, I have just come home from [Jinnett?]. She sent for me to look the last time on your [illegible] son dear little faice as departed this life tonight about 8 o'clock. he was sick 2 day and [swool?] all up [Jinnett?] had 2 doctors they said he had taken a cold and turned to dropsy [Jinnett?] taken his death verry hard. The children is all well & say they will miss their little Buddy so much they all send love to you...your trouble is many you must not worry for god knows what he is doing he do all things for our good so you must pray & put your trust in him I know it is hard to give up your little boy & only boy he is now in heaven with his dear mother...you must try and pray for now is the time when heart is heavy...'.
