Note from Davidson of Water Valley, offering his slave blacksmith for hire, 1861. 'Water Valley August 23, 1861. Mr. [illegible], Sir, I have a Black Smith Negro boy I would like to let you have to work in the shop untill Christmas he is not [illegible] smith but is a great plantation smith if you are wanting one let me hear from you and I can send him immediately. Truly yours, F. L. Davidson'.
