State's conveyance of $500 to Edmund Bacon for slave, Maria, 1818-10-09. Document regarding an African-American woman owned by her father. 'I hereby convey to Edmund Bacon for the sum of five hundred dollars viz. in cash...and in his [illegible] of hand...due on demand, a full and indefeazible right title and estate in a female slave Maria daughter of his, born at Edgehill, this day put into his possession, and I for myself, my heirs, [illegible] the said title to the said slave do forever warrant and [defend?] to the said Edm. Bacon his heir or [illegible]. Witness my hand and seal this Oct. 9th 1818 [M. M. Randolph?], done in presence of [illegible signatures]'.
