H. O. Wagoner, 1887. Henry O. Wagoner, African-American abolitionist and civil rights activist involved with the Underground Railroad. Wagoner was also a typesetter and journalist for radical anti-slavery newspapers before abolition, as well as working as a miller, saloon keeper, grocer and sheriff.
