Miss Hallie Q. Brown, M. S., Elocutionist, 1888. African-American educator, a professor of elocution, writer and activist Hallie Quinn Brown received a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University, and was one of the first black female university graduates in the United States. She was Dean of the African Methodist Episcopal Church affiliated Allen University in South Carolina, principal of the Tuskegee Institute, and taught on plantations in the South.
