"Hamlet's Grave", Elsinore, [Denmark], 1856. 'A short distance north-west of Elsineur is the small Royal chateau of Marienlist. The pleasure-grounds behind the chateau are open to the public. They occupy the site of an old fortification on the crest of the hill. Nothing can be more lovely than the views from hence, as seen beneath the luxuriant shade of the fine trees...Hamlet's grave is marked by a single stone obelisk, evidently of very early date; it is surrounded by tables and chairs, where citizens from Copenhagen consume beer and coffee, and defile with their heeltaps the sepulchre of a King'.
