Ruins of Church, in the Fiord of Igaliko, 1856. Remains of an early Christian settlement in Greenland: '...many ruins have been found: the most remarkable for its preservation occurs in the Fjord of Igaliko [Igaliku], about lat. 60 deg. It consists of the ruins of a substantially-built church or cloister, having no traces of mortar or cement being used in its construction, and ten or twelve indistinct ruins of houses and other buildings...the fate of the early Christian settiers still remains in obscurity'.
