'Mr. Rhodes Before the South Africa Committee', c1897, (c1900). British imperialist, businessman and politician who played a dominant role in southern Africa, driving the annexation of vast swathes of land. He and his British South Africa Company founded the southern African territory of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe and Zambia), which the company named after him in 1895.
