Christmas-Day Service in Calcutta Cathedral, attended by the Prince of Wales, from a sketch by one of our special artists, 1876. The future King Edward VII in India. 'The interior, with the congregation at the Christmas Day service, and Bishop Milman in the pulpit...The two gentlemen seated in the pew directly under the pulpit are the Viceroy (Lord Northbrook) and the Prince of Wales; the lady sitting to the right hand of the Prince is the Hon. Miss Baring, his Excellency's daughter. Near their pew is the Bishop's throne, which of course is empty. In the foreground of this view some Christmas decorations will be observed, which have been placed round the font. Many natives were present, but all wearing European dress'.
