The Prince of Wales in the Terai: Shooting a Bear, from a sketch by one of our special artists, 1876. The future King Edward VII in India. 'The first bear got a bullet before his Royal Highness came up to it; but the second came out of the bit of long grass in the direction of the Prince, and it crossed the stream and was making off to a wood close at hand, when he got a clean shot. The hit was particularly good, the bullet entering and going right through the body at the chest, killing the animal instantly'. From "Illustrated London News", 1876.
