The Prince's Voyage Home from India: life on board the Serapis: Himalayan Black Bear and tailless dogs, from a sketch by an officer of the Serapis, 1876. The future Edward VII's menagerie: '...specimens of the collection of Indian wild animals, given by native Princes or Rajahs, which his Royal Highness is bringing to England. The Zoological Society of London has provided a separate range of dens and pens for their reception in the Regent's Park Gardens. The Himalayan black bear will not be a novelty there, but the tailless dog of Thibet is a variety of the canine species, or a species of the dog kind, which has scarcely been exhibited before'. From "Illustrated London News", 1876.
