Indian Deities - Trimurti; the Hindoo Triad or Trinity, 1858. 'The central figure is Brahma; on the right is Siva; the left is Vishnu. Brahma, the Creator; Vishnu, the Preserver ; Siva, the Destroyer - three in one - sprung, according to Hindoo mythology, from Brahm, the Almighty, the one Supreme Being, who existed before everything. The doctrine of the Trinity pervades all religions. It is found in the three principles of Chaldaic theology, in the Triplasios Mithra of Persia, in the numen triplix of Japan, in the inscription on the medal found in the deserts of Siberia, "to the Triune God"; in the Tanga Tanga, or three in one, of the South Americans in the symbol of the Wing, the Globe, and the Serpent, in Egypt'.
