Kiosk in the Bois de Boulogne, [Paris], 1858. 'One of the principal ornaments of the Bois de Boulogne is the Kiosk represented in our Sketch. Situated on the extremity of an island in one of the lakes of this beautiful wood, it is not unfrequently a but de promenade for our Parisian friends, more especially at this season of the year, when the scene is enlivened by the presence of numerous pleasure skiffs of a very ornamental description, manned by sailors wearing the well-known costume of the matelots of the Seine. On certain nights, also, thousands of variegated lamps placed near the ground add an extra charm to this pretty scene, which is in the immediate vicinity of the enchanting Pré Catelan...Those of our readers who have visited Paris will be pleased to have this refreshing spot recalled to their souvenir; and those who have not will be enabled by our Sketch to picture to themselves one of the prettiest parts in the much-talked-of and much-admired Bois de Boulogne'.
