Ceiling of Astley's Theatre, 1858. Refurbished building in London. 'This theatre, on its reopening, has presented new attractions which deserve express notice. Many alterations and improvements have been made in the interior, and the accommodation of the boxes is much increased...There is also a new ceiling, with a striking series of paintings, representing the gods and goddesses of heathen mythology, which are exceedingly well done. These, we understand, are the production of Mr. I. S. Pearse'. From "Illustrated London News", 1858.
