Engraving of a sketch '...received by the last Overland Mail from our Special Artist and Correspondent in China, who, in a letter dated Canton, Oct. 28, writes: "A man with a gong goes in front, and is followed by the thief, with his [pig]tail cut off, his back bared, receiving chastisement from a rattan cane".'
