Design for watch-case, c.1765-c.1780. The watch-cases were intended to be executed in enamelled gold, probably set with rubies and diamonds. An enamel picture could be mounted at the centre. These are probably presentation drawings. A goldsmith or merchant would show them to prospective clients for them to choose a pattern.
