Brisé fan with the wedding of Cupid and Psyche, c.1777-c.1800. Fan of pierced ivory with silver decoration, with medallion on which the wedding of Cupid and Psyche is painted with watercolour. The veiled couple is led to the marriage bed by a putto with a torch on a knotted cord, which is opened by another putto. The third putto holds a 'liknon' or holy basket, in which the first fruits of the field fruits were brought to the gods above the heads of the couple.
