Folding fan with wedding scene, c.1775-c.1780. People in classical dress are led to a wedding by Hymen. The group is surrounded by putti, with a laurel branch and a horn of plenty. These probably symbolize the prosperity and fertility that guide the couple. The classical element is emphasized by the temple on the left, the garden vase on the wall on the right and the vases above the medallions on both sides. In these medallions are love symbols. A marriage proposal is perhaps shown in the frame in the middle of the frame.
