Folding fan with Eliezer and Rebecca at the well, c.1775. Leather and mother-of-pearl. Bible scene: Eliezer gives Rebecca a ring and holds two more bracelets in his right hand. There is a striking discrepancy between the ornamentation in a Louis XV style and that on the frame, in Louis XIV style. The usual connection has been made between pastoral and love symbolism. The closing pin is made of red glass.
