The reunification and forgiveness of the prodigal son, c.1540-c.1550. Son (Filius Prodigus) is embraced by Peace (Pax). Around them are justice (Justicia), joy (Laeticia) and steadfastness (Constantia). Above them the Holy Spirit. In the background the father in conversation with personification of the Jewish people (Gens Judaica), two men going to slaughter a cow, and a church interior (Ecclesia) with the baptism of a child and the Eucharistic celebration. Print from a series of six woodcuts with six-line Latin captions. The woodcut is hand-coloured where the costumes have been adjusted / modernized.
