The return of the prodigal son, c.1540-c.1550. Son (Filius Prodigus) kneeling and embraced by father. Around them love (Dilectio), truth (Veritas), Hope (Spes), repentance (Poenitentia) that tramples despair (Desperata Conscientia), and trust (Fides). Sun in heaven with the word God in Hebrew, Greek and Latin letters. Print from a series of six woodcuts with six-line Latin captions. The woodcut is hand-coloured where the costumes have been adjusted / modernized.
