Table Mountain and Cape Town seen from the sea, 1787. View of Table Mountain, Cape Town and Lion's Head Mountain. Between the two mountains you can see the Nek gorge, and below that the Groote Kerk (reformed church) . At the far left, the Castle De Goede Hoop (of Good Hope). There is a ship without masts, probably a wreck that served as a beacon or repair station. A Dutch ship can be seen and an American or French ship on the right.
