View of the ruins on the Rapenburg in Leiden after the explosion of the powder ship on January 12, 1807, (1807-1809). The ruins on the Steenchuur, a canal in the extension of the Rapenburg. A ship, the 'Delfs Welvaaren', carrying hundreds of barrels of black powder exploded in the town of Leiden in the Netherlands. The disaster killed 151 people and destroyed over 200 buildings in the town.
