Shinchunagon Taira no Tomomori Sweeping the Deck, 1886. From Yoshitoshi's Warriors Trembling with Courage. In May 1185, Taira no Tomomori killed himself in the Battle of Dan no ura, thereby marking an end to the Taira clan. Before suicide, Tomomori crossed over to the women's vessel, of which TAIRA no Tokuko(Emperor Antoku) and TAIRA no Tokiko were aboard, and said 'The enemy soldiers are coming soon.
