The Fire of Hôtel-Dieu in Paris 1772, (late 18th-early 19th century). The Hôtel-Dieu ('God Shelter') hospital dates from 829 CE, making it the oldest in France, and possibly the oldest continuously operating hospital in the world. The building was damaged by fire several times over the centuries. (Note the Cathedral of Notre Dame in the background).
