Ovation to the first Garibaldian who entered the Café di Europa, Naples - from a sketch by our special artist, Frank Vizetelly, 1860. 'Although Garibaldi himself arrived in the capital of the Two Sicilies on Friday, Sept. 7, the first of his followers, with the exception of a few of his personal staff, did not reach Naples until three days afterwards. One of these, in the historic red shirt, entered the Café di Europa to procure some refreshment, and to escape the crowd which was pressing on him in the street, when, to his surprise, he found himself suddenly hoisted on the shoulders of some half-dozen enthusiastic Neapolitans who bore him in triumph round the café'.
